Storyline
The Russian army and pro-Russian militants completely control the city of Lysychansk in the Luhansk region, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu Sunday.
According to a news briefing released by the Russian Ministry of Defense on the day, Sergei Shoigu said the Russian army and the pro-Russian armed forces completely control the city of Lisichansk and its surrounding settlements.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine issued an announcement on the same day after ending the important battle in Lysychansk, saying that Ukrainian troops were forced to withdraw from their positions and lines of defense in the city.
Still, the announcement also emphasized that the Ukrainian army will regain lost ground and will eventually win.
Additionally, an explosion occurred in the Russian city of Belgorod on the Russian-Ukrainian border on Sunday morning.
Russia said the explosion killed at least five people. The Russian Federation Council said the incident was committed by Ukraine and that the most severe response, including military means, was required.
The Ukrainian side has not made any comments so far.
According to reports by Russia Today, a survey showed that weapons provided to Ukraine by the United States and other NATO countries have been sold on the dark web, including anti-tank weapons, drones, and others.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad pointed out during a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian last Saturday that the Ukrainian crisis debunked the lies of the West and showed its true colors. The political losses suffered by the West in this regard benefit Syria, Iran, and all countries that defend their sovereignty, principles and interests.
