Storyline
Chinese national political advisors pledged to make greater efforts to promote Chinese modernization when they were reviewing key work reports in their panel discussions on Wednesday afternoon during the ongoing third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The reports under review included a work report of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, and a report on the work of proposals from political advisors.
This year’s session of the CPPCC National Committee opened on Tuesday and will run through March 10.
Hu Chunhua, vice chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, urged the CPPCC members to actively deliberate on state affairs.
Shen Yueyue, vice chairwoman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, highlighted the significant achievements in advancing Chinese modernization and called for stronger efforts to achieve the goals and tasks set for this year.
Tashi Dhondup, a member of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and also a medical worker from southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, praised the work report for closely aligning with the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s major decisions and deployments on economic and social development.

Wang Yong, another vice chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, lauded the remarkable achievements of the Party and the government over the past year and called for unified efforts to advance Chinese modernization.
Ho Hau Wah, also a vice chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, encouraged the members from Macao to actively participate in the construction of Hengqin, an area located at the southern tip of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province and separated from Macao by a narrow stretch of water, and to promote Macao’s appropriate economic diversification.
O Lam, a member of 14th CPPCC National Committee from Macao and the region’s secretary for social affairs and culture, said, “In last December, President Xi Jinping inspected Macao and attended a gathering marking the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland.
