Storyline
Chinese authorities have taken follow-up measures to make sure relevant poor rural populations can live a better life after being relocated from inhospitable areas.
In the first half of this year, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Rural Revitalization Administration and other departments specified 40 key tasks of the year in follow-up supports for the people relocated from inhospitable areas.
The Ministry of Finance and the National Rural Revitalization Administration have arranged 4.8 billion yuan (about 715 million U.S. dollars) to support the relocation sites with relatively larger populations on their development.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs supported the relocation sites in starting their own businesses and promoted the full coverage of technical guidance services which will help develop the businesses.
By the end of June, the employment scale of the relocated people topped 4.594 million, exceeding the annual level of 2021.
More than 25,000 supporting projects including workshops, industrial parks and rural tourist points have been built at the relocation areas, which are also seeing improving educational, medical and cultural facilities as well as better social governance and services.
