Chinese primary and middle school students have shown gradual improvement in physical fitness as 33 percent of them were evaluated good or excellent in physical fitness tests, said an official with the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Liu Peijun, deputy director of the Department of Sports, Health and Art of the Ministry of Education, said that almost all primary and middle schools across China have physical and health education class.
Now primary and middle school students are able to engaged in physical activities for more than one hour at school every day, Liu said.
By 2021, over 770,000 PE teachers were involved in China’s basic education system. More than 90 percent of schools in compulsory education reached the standard in stadium area and sports equipment, according to Liu.
