Storyline
An exhibition to show China’s development achievements on national defense and military construction in a new era opened at the Military Museum of Chinese People’s Revolution in Beijing on Wednesday morning.
Zhang Youxia, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, announced the opening of the exhibition.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Zhang pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, Chinese President Xi Jinping has clearly put forward the Party’s goal of strengthening the military in the new era, and made clear the mission and tasks of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in the new era, in addition to having made a series of strategic plans and deployments in terms of accelerating the modernization of the national defense and military, guiding the whole PLA to stride forward on the road to building a strong army with Chinese characteristics.
He also said the military needs to aim at the goals set for the PLA centenary, advancing the cause of building a strong military in the new era to welcome successful holding of the Party’s 20th National Congress with practical actions.
The exhibition showcases the magnificent course and great achievements in building up China’s national defense and military forces in the new era with more than 1,400 historical items, 630 photos, nearly 100 sets of weapon and equipment models, as well as a large number of charts, videos, art works and interactive exhibits.
