Storyline
An ordinary restaurant in northeast China’s Liaoning Province is called “the restaurant of love” by local people, as its owner has been providing free meal for people in difficulties for more than two decades, and her kindness is inspiring more people to pass the love onto others.
The story about this heartwarming restaurant and its owner is presented in a new series titled “Snapshots of Modernization” produced by China Media Group (CMG) — the country’s flagship broadcaster.
Cheng Yajuan, who came from northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, has been running the restaurant in Liaoning for 21 years. What helps identify her restaurant is a notice on the door with the content of providing free bowls of noodles to people who are currently in difficulties.
So far, Chen has given away more than 6,000 free bowls of noodles. Many of her customers have also joined the act of kindness by paying extra for the free meal.
Looking into the future, Chen said she will continue to provide free meals as long as her restaurant is still in business.
