Storyline
Shanghai, China’s economic hub, registered a positive growth in foreign trade in June with the full restoration of normal production and life that had been disrupted by COVID-19 epidemic earlier this year.
Data released by Shanghai’s customs authorities on Saturday show that the imports and exports of the city’s local enterprises and the imports and exports handled by ports in Shanghai logged a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent and 2.8 percent in June, a dramatic rise of 46.2 percentage points and 41 percentage points respectively from April.
China’s foreign trade saw a double-digit growth pace in June, a positive indicator that the world’s second-largest economy is recovering from the headwinds of COVID-19 outbreaks.
China’s foreign trade growth accelerated to 14.3 percent in June, compared with 9.5 percent in May and 0.1 percent in April, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Wednesday.
