Storyline
Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is expected to further open up to spur larger-scale regional cooperative development, officials said at a press conference on Tuesday in Beijing.
Mao Hui, deputy director of Development and Reform Commission of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said that great achievements have been made in Xinjiang under the Belt and Road Initiative.
“China has set up 55 state-level key open platforms and industrial development platforms of 13 kinds in Xinjiang. A series of policies and measures were also rolled out. In the economic development zones of Kashgar and Khorgos, in particular, the country and the autonomous region have granted a preferential policy on corporate income tax that the tax is exempted from the first to the fifth year and reduced by half from the sixth to the tenth year, creating favorable conditions for attracting investment and businesses,” said Mao.
According to Mao, Xinjiang has opened 118 international road transport routes, accounting for one third of the country’s total. In addition, there are 25 civil airports in the region.
Xinjiang’s overseas investment has covered more than 60 countries and regions, and four overseas economic and trade cooperation zones have been set up. The actual receipt and payment of RMB cross-border settlement now covers 110 countries and regions.
