Storyline
Deputies to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), representing various sectors of society, shared their achievements in their respective fields over the past years, vowing to continue their efforts to support China’s development, during group deliberations at the third session on Wednesday.
The NPC deputies, who participated in group deliberations on the government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the opening of the annual session, expressed strong support for the development targets and measures outlined in the report, underscoring their optimism about the country’s path forward.
“After listening to the government work report, I felt particularly inspired, especially by the section on further advancing rural revitalization on all fronts. In 2024, the average income of our villagers reached 24,000 yuan (about 3,300 U.S. dollars). The improved lives of our farmers and herders are the result of the Communist Party of China (CPC)’s favorable policies. We are more confident than ever in building our village into a model for rural revitalization, ethnic solidarity, and common prosperity,” said deputy Gulimila Dawulieti, also Party official of a village in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

We will take measures to foster emerging and future-oriented industries, promote integrated advancements in sci-tech and industrial innovation, and drive high-quality development,” said deputy Ai Xuefeng, also director of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
“As university researchers, we should strengthen sci-tech innovation with a focus on the country’s major strategic needs, and make continuous efforts in basic research. It is crucial to provide long-term and stable support to bases for basic research and innovation, leading teams, and critical areas, with the goal of achieving more results in original innovation and enhancing the country’s overall competitiveness,” said deputy Zhang Weihong, also vice president of Northwestern Polytechnical University.
Other deputies said they had high expectations for the future development of rural areas, noting that significant improvements have been made thanks to the implementation of supportive government policies.
