This episode focuses on Yang Denghui, champion of the 44th WorldSkills Competition, who gave up a well-paid job and chose to become a teacher to help more ambitious talents shake off poverty and change their lives.
Yang participated in the 44th WorldSkills Competition and won the gold medal in CNC milling, earning him the title of the country’s best player.
The WorldSkills Competition, also known as the “Olympics for technicians,” is a global professional skills promotion event held every two years.
After the competition, Yang gave up several good-paid job offers and decided to become a teacher in the Guangdong Machinery Technician College, devoting himself to vocational education.
In his six years as a teacher, Yang has cultivated two world and two national champions. Many of his former students have found well-paid jobs. Yang is happy to see his students, mostly coming from rural areas, change their lives with professional skills.
Yang said he was a rebellious boy when he was a student. But he was fortunate enough to meet great teachers at the vocational school he was enrolled, who saved and changed him. Now it is his turn to pass on knowledge and kindness to younger generations.
