Storyline
International guests sent video messages to the 11th Global Video Media Forum (VMF) that was held in Beijing on Thursday, expressing hopes of strengthened cooperation with China Media Group (CMG), host of the forum.
Some 140 participants from both China and abroad gathered at the forum, all united under the theme “vision for a shared future.”
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of the CMG, attended the forum and delivered a speech.
Heads of 75 international media agencies from 49 countries including the Associated Press, Reuters, the Latin American Press Union, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Russian-language paper “Narodnoe Slovo” or the People’s Word from Uzbekistan, Russian television channel NTV, and Lao News Agency, sent messages to the forum via video, expressing their desire to expand cooperation with CMG to promote people-to-people exchanges and the construction of a better world with pooled strength.
The significance of the forum this year is underscored by its alignment with the 10-year milestone of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The launching of the Declaration on Joint Action from Belt and Road Media Organizations is one of the biggest outcomes of the event, which was jointly proposed by the CMG, and 81 media organizations from 42 countries.
Content related to the New Silk Road showcased at the forum included documentaries, TV programs, films and short videos. The event also marked the launch of a Global Partnership Program and the Middle East Media Alliance.
