Storyline
Sanya City, a famous tourist resort in south China’s tropical island province of Hainan, reported 48 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases between midnight Wednesday and 12:00 Thursday, according to the city’s headquarters of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.
In addition, there was one asymptomatic infection re-categorized as a confirmed case in the city between 0:00 and 12:00 on Thursday.
A total of 72 confirmed cases and one asymptomatic infection were recorded during the current COVID-19 resurgence in the coastal city from 0:00 on Monday to 12:00 on Thursday.
Starting from 0:00 on Thursday, lockdown measures have been imposed upon parts of Sanya. Specifically, areas in Sanya except the Haitang Bay, the Yalong Bay, and the Yucai Ecological Zone have entered the state of regional management and control.
People are required to hold a negative result of nucleic acid testing valid for 24 hours or nucleic acid sampling records on the day prior to entry into enterprises and public institutions, public venues, residential communities, and etc.
