Storyline
The inauguration ceremony of China-aided comprehensive teaching building and auditorium for Afghanistan’s Kabul University was held on Sunday, marking a key progress in China’s assistance to the country’s educational field.
Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Wang Yu, acting minister of higher education of the Afghan interim government Shiekh Abdul Baqi Haqqani and chancellor of Kabul University Osama Aziz attended the ceremony.
The modern teaching building completed after five years of construction is a symbolic manifestation of friendly cooperation in education between the two countries, and China will continue to provide support and assistance and expand cooperation in various fields with Afghanistan, according to Wang at the ceremony.
Wang also said that university education and basic education are important mechanisms for cultivating talents, and he believed tens of thousands of students studying in Kabul University will become the key driving force for the country’s future development.
Meanwhile, Haqqani expressed his deep gratitude for the assistance from China as Afghanistan had just emerged from successive years of war, where many issues, including economic development and social reconstruction, have been obstructing the country’s future.
He also stressed that China is Afghanistan’s true friend who aids Afghanistan’s development with sincerity, hoping China will continue to provide assistance to the country and carry out more future cooperation in the field of education.
