Storyline
Thousands of youth from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan participated in an opening ceremony of a cross-Strait exchange activity through online and offline methods on Thursday in the Chinese capital city Beijing.
The Taiwan Youth Summer Camp is an annual event held by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, an organization focuses on Taiwan people living on the mainland, since 2004, attracting youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to take part in.
Hung Hsiu-chu, the former chairperson of the Kuomintang Party made a speech and spoke highly on the meaning of this summer camp.
“The cross-Strait civil exchanges and integrated development are still inevitable historical trends. Young people, I hope you will bear in mind the mission of the times and actively play the role in promoting cross-Straits peace, contributing to national rejuvenation and striving for China’s reunification in the future,” said Hung.
Except for study activities themed on digital economy and Chinese tea culture, the host will invite youth to visit leading enterprises in some emerging industries on the mainland to help more Taiwan youngsters seek their job opportunities here.
