Storyline
The Russian Defense Ministry said Monday that the country has targeted its firepower on Ukrainian weapons which are provided by the United States, as the Ukrainian side said the Russian troops are mustered to intensify its strikes toward Donetsk.
Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for Russian Ministry of Defense, said at Monday’s daily briefing that the Russian army knocked down on an ammunition depot in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast which housed the weaponry provided by the United States, including launchers of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System or the “HIMARS” and the M777 howitzer artillery guns.
Konashenkov also said that the Su-35S fighter with the Russian Air Force shot down a Su-25 of the Ukrainian Air Force. Besides, the Russian Air Force also hit the Ukrainian command post and the depot storing the anti-tank weapons, according to Konashenkov.
The Russian troops on Monday continued its shelling of the places, including Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkov and Nikolayev, while launching missiles against such areas as Ukraine’s southern Black Sea port city of Odessa, the Ukrainian government-run Ukrinform news agency reported.
Also, on Monday, the general commander of the Ukrainian armed forces said evidence showed the Russian army is boosting its offense in the directions toward Kramatorsk and Bakhmut.
On Monday night, an explosion occurred in Russia-controlled Nova Kakhovka in Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast, injuring several people and damaging local market, hospital and houses near a local warehouse. The government of the oblast said the Ukrainian army hit the warehouse which is used to store the niter.
The Ukrainian media said the strike has hit at least 50 fuel trucks and some 200 rocket shells stored at the warehouse.
