Storyline
The improving logistics arrangement for China-Europe Railway Express has been promoting the transnational trade as more international rail routes leading to Europe were opened and a large number of customs transit vehicles were handled.
A train bound for Russia’s Moscow and Belarus’ Minsk set off from north China’s Shijiazhuang International Land Port on Saturday, marking the launch of the first China-Europe freight train service jointly operated by Shijiazhuang and Xingtai, two cities in north China’s Hebei Province.
The “Xingtai-Shijiazhuang-Europe” freight train, loaded with foreign trade goods valued 30 million yuan (about 4.48 million U.S. dollars) will arrive at the destination in about 13 days. The freight train carried a total of 50 cars with 100 standard containers, including goods of air filter elements, filter mold accessories, bearings and sealing strips.
The freight train will operate regularly once a week.
The Shijiazhuang International Land Port has opened 12 regular international routes, covering more than 40 countries and regions of the European Union, Central Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Urumqi International Land Port Area in Urumqi, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has handled more than 10,000 customs transit vehicles so far this year, exceeding the annual amount of 2021.
In the Urumqi Multimodal Transport Customs Supervision Center, customs officers are checking the vehicles for export. After that, the goods will be transported to the ports in southern Xinjiang.
This year, the Urumqi Customs adopted a new highway export mode of “multi-point loading and centralized inspection” to further improve the overall logistics efficiency.
“Most of the goods are from Guangzhou, Yiwu and Beijing. The customs clearance mode has lowered the cost by 15 to 20 percent,” said Li Xiang, manager of the freight department of the Urumqi Jinzichu International Trade Co., Ltd.
“We will fulfill the commitment of 24-hour one-stop customs clearance and maximize the work quality and efficiency of foreign trade enterprises,” said Xie Ping, a staff member of the supervision department of the Wuchang Customs affiliated to the Urumqi Customs.
