Storyline
Beijing reported four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the capital city’s health authorities.
Xu Hejian, spokesman of the Beijing Municipal Government, told a press conference on Tuesday that suburban Yanqing District had found a new cluster outbreak triggered by an inbound traveler from overseas who had entered Beijing upon completion of health observation and quarantine.
“From 00:00 to 15:00 on July 5, Beijing reported four new locally transmitted new coronavirus cases, with three in Yanqing District and one in Tongzhou District. Among them, there are a moderate case, two mild cases and an asymptomatic carrier. All the new infections occurred among those quarantined for observation, and have been transferred to designated hospitals for quarantine and treatment. Relevant risk points and personnel have been under management and control,” Liu Xiaofeng, Deputy Head of the Beijing Municipal Disease Prevention and Control Center, detailed the information.
The press conference said health authorities in Yanqing will carry out mass nucleic acid testing for the next three days.
As of Tuesday at 15:00, the district had collected samples from nearly 74,600 people, officials said.
According to Dong Minghui, Tongzhou District’s deputy head, the district will adopt effective anti-virus measures in a quick manner in order to quickly cut off community transmission.
